What is gong on?

Yes, it sure has been a while! About a year ago I was trying to figure out what I was going to do with myself, and all of the information and experience I had gained with Google Web Apps and screen readers. Then, once I got going well, I ran out of time an energy to keep this blog up-to-date! shame on me! I am now sharing my knowledge and experience through the Digital Apex Llc Trainingware materials. The materials are designed to teach teachers how to teach computer, program and browser concepts to end-users who are using assistive technology. As a part of this end ever I have agreed not to share too many details, or give too many tutorials away in the form of the blog! So, I guess now I have to sell you on Trainingware? Well, if I didn't think it was a good, quality prouct, I wouldn't have agreed to associate my name with it in the first place, so let that give you some insight! I do realize however that it is expensive for many schools and state agencies, is beyond the financial reach of most end-users looking for help/information and wouldn't really be appropriate for users needs anyway. I've not found a very good middle ground, but hope to use this platform as a tool for helping teachers find the tools and resources they need to teach their students. In addition to teaching students many teachers, at all levels, are often expected to not only know and teach the programs, but they are also expected to assess for a students need for given programs and tools and to help students integrate the tools and strategies into their classrooms. For itinerant teachers, who can only meet with their students once a week and are expected to also provide Extended Core Curriculum (ECC) services in all other areas this is one overwhelming responsibility! I don't have all the answers for the teachers, or end-users, but I can share experiences, create fictional scenarios and give some suggestions that just might be helpful. I have also begun providing a monthly training to Teachers of the Visually Impaired, and may make some of those presentations available here, if appropriate. Hopefully I'll have time to maintain this a bit better in coming months. I would welcome ideas on what topics to write about, so please get in touch!
